The heads are not actually directly opposed. The head on side 1 is slightly
closer to the spindle, by 2.117 mm on standard 5.25 inch drives. This
makes the tracks on side 1 about 13.3 mm shorter than those of side 0.
Since side 1 has the same number of flux transitions in a shorter space,
the flux density is higher.
