Wasn't Micropolis' drive a 77 track thing?
It was, indeed rated at 77 track, but, ... it could go slightly past, and
some would go as far as 80.
BTW, The Tandon TM100-4 was 96TPI, but the TM100-4M (for
"Micropolis"?) was 100 TPI.
Starting with
the MPI B51, most drives went to a split band positioner.
In addition to the spiral groove positioner, the SA400 was 35 track,
whereas all others that followed were 40 track.
I have both SA400 and MPI B51s.
They are compatible.
ALMOST, The MPI was 40 track, MUCH faster, tended to stay in
alignment
much better, and didn't mangle the center hole. Is that compatible?
