Are you sure you're not thinking of Win 3.0 Real mode? 3.1 286p (standard)
mode does have protection and it's pretty easy to generate type 12 and 13
faults (STKFAULT, GPFAULT). OTOH, nothing faults in real mode--because
there's no protection.
How about comparing OS 9 to Windows 2.0 or Topview?
