don't know a thing about it. nope. never heard of that localtalk thing. :-)
in the early days of macbsd there was problem emptying the 8530's fifo
(only 3 bytes) which was solved by using a simple version of soft irq's
(which have other names in other os's but the concept is the same).
pretty veratile chip. not bad once you got used to it. difficult to
use w/dma hardware, however.
