Its called sniping and its what lots of people do to win the items
they want. I've frequently been outbid at the last minute by someone
else expressing their higher willingness to pay. Its not "driving up
the price unnecessarily", its expressing what you're willing to pay to
win the item. It is, after all, an AUCTION. That's the nature of
auctions. Other people can outbid you or make you raise your bid.
You missed what he said. He was encouraging people to snipe. He was
against people bidding *before* the last 30 seconds.
