One alternative method INSTEAD of moderating for

a problem at all!
I quite like this idea. It's a good compromise between
leaving things
as they are, and outright blocking non-subscribers. Apart from pushing
the filtering decision out to the end user, it also will allow us to get
a better idea of how many non-subscriber submissions the list receives.
Um, this
idea sucks. What if I don't use a mailer that supports
filtering?
Jerome Fine replies:
Then you don't - it is your choice - I actually probably could filter, but I
don't. In any case, if there are so few messages from off the list, then
a simple clear 4 characters "[OT]" at the start to clearly identify the
message is trivial.
Look, the discussion over this issue is stupid. Why
the HELL do we have
to discuss every gawd damn issue that comes up to death? I FUCKING HATE
DEMOCRACIES!!!
Well, then live elsewhere! If I used the same language you use, I would
as well. Besides, I did not say that would be the final solution - just something
that could probably be done once, easily, and it then makes it easy to tell
the difference.
If Jay would just pop his head in once in a while and
respond to messages
regarding list maintenance, we could get this issue solved once and for all.
MAKE THE LIST WRITEABLE BY SUBSCRIBERS ONLY!!!

While I really don't care what is done, I think you owe an apology to Jay.
(a) Jay is performing a service and not being paid for it. Even if you
are willing, right now it is Jay who is doing it. So put a lid on it
(b) Jay can have all the time he pleases and respond when it is convenient
for him to do so.
(c) I seem to remember that certain individuals were responsible for a great
many messages that most other individuals on the list did not appreciate. If
you don't like the way the list is run, please leave.
I don't wish to have any more discussion on this topic since I see that it
is getting out of hand. I will let Jay decide.
If you want to comment on anything here, send if off the list!
Sincerely yours,
Jerome Fine
