The c64 never used EPROMs, only masked ROMs. Though there were one or

aftermarket devices that would use 'em, typically with an adapter.
At least I once had a 1541 shortly after it was released in Germany that
had EPROMs in it; too bad I didn't keep it. No, it was NOT one of the
upgraded drives with SpeedDos or other accelerators, and the label on the
UV window had the well-known C= on it.
