a maximum of 11 kHz even though the output was "CD-quality" (I forget the

I can't seem to find the proper technical specification at the moment, but
you'll find this is the case.
There was a third-party product called "DigitalEars" that utilized the DSP
port and provided a fairly professional audio interface for NeXT
computers.
