Jay,
UPS ships everything by air when shipping overseas. Needless to say, it
gets expensive! Try the USPS (or the local country's postal serice)
instead. Also be aware that "overweight" or "oversized" packages are a
LOT
more expensive. It may be a LOT cheaper to break the package into two
smaller/lighter packages. I shipped an Apple Lisa (~60#) to Japan and I
saved about 2/3 by shipping it in two packages instead of one.

I'm looking at getting a cpu shipped to me from the
UK. I checked UPS and it
says 40 pounds, 30x20x10 inches, would be about $106 to ship to me in US,

I've never shipped anything from UK to US before - can anyone advise if
there is a better carrier, things to look out for, etc. I'd appreciate any
advice.
Normally I wouldn't go to so much trouble, but it's a older PDP-11 that
would particularly round out my collection :)
