Presumably to not "consume" a (your only?) serial port just to set the
time... an external version of the "no slot clocks".
I've never seen that variant. Mine is the single serial port version.

Yep. ?There's another variant of it that I want. ?The one I have has
only a single serial port on it. ?The original had two, one passed through so
you could connect a SmartModem to it as well.
