Well, _this_ one has export restrictions from what you are saying, I
doubt all 2100S's do.
IIRC the techncial manuals and probably schematics for the machine are
availalbe on th web with no restrictions (and with the blessign of HP).
If there was really somethign secret about the machine itslef, the
manuals would be a much quicker way to discover it.
My guess is that, as others ahve said, it's a typicla government
regulation...
