   There's no
backup media for the OS... 
 all 3100s have SCSI as standard... 
I found someone relatively close by to where I live who has 
one or two spare TK50Z-GA's that I believe might (anybody
know?) get a VMS tape in on 3100 SCSI.  It was a pretty
good find.  A CD drive Still might be your better choice.
