Subject: RE: NEC Multisync
I seem to
recall that the Multisync may actually sync to 15kHz (NTSC).
Can
anyone say yea/nea on this?
Older ones do. I know the 2D does, for instance -- I have used one on an
Apple //gs with a hacked-up adapter.
Not that 2D, can only do up to 640x 480 ~ 800x600, less sharp tube
max and no support for TTL or composite, basically just a no frills,
quality, expensive monitor.
3D is and has .28, digital controls with recall and the original ones
analog controls at larger dot pitch as well. Be warned that their
brandwidth is rather narrow around 38 mhz I think to get 15khz in
lower resolution modes for ntsc and composite at expense of top end
1024 x 768 with interlaced exactly like IBM 8514 not noninterlaced
with 60, 70 and 80hz plus on other monitors.
Very reliable after monitor is inspected and rebuild it with new
components especially when if the tube is still good.
Also those models that was recently talked about are all beyond 10
years old now and not much to expect from tube quality that long
lifetime.
Another monitor that does that much is iiyama MF5117, 17inch and
bigger bandwidth.

However, I don't think modern ones, 4- and 5- series, will sync down that
far.
