BTW, are there any schematics out for the cpu board?
I guess, I got a bad one. But even the pinout of the
backplane connector would help, to put a scope on it ...
The obvious place to start is the Australian museum site,
http://www.hpmuseum.net/ .
The trap for the unary is that the the 9836 is very closely rleated to
the HP9826, to the extent that some of the boards may be indentical []1.
as a result some of the manuals on that side are listed under the HP9826
section.
There is an official HP service manual. Of course it's a boardswapper
guide with no schematics, but it does incldue pinouts of the internal
conenctors. I think one of the video connectors was mis-drawn, basically
they numbered it
1 5
2 6
3 7
48
as opposeed to
1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8
But it's obvious when you look at it.
There should also be my schematics for the 9826/9836. These (if you can
read the handwriting) cover the 9826, 9836A and 9836C, will al versions
of the boards that Iv'e seen/ The -U CPU board is there.
[1] To be precise, early 9826s had boards taht were 9826-only in many
cases. Like a floppy controlelr that could only handle one drive. But the
9836 floppy controller (for example) can be used i na 9826, and was used
in later 9826s fro mthe factory. I've enver seen any of the 9826-specific
boards (other than the motherboard and video stuff, obviously).
