Someday I'll have to get a proper copy stand, but
so far I've been quite
I hacked up a copy stand. I have an old enlarger where the optical haed
was fixed ot the carriage (which goes up and down the column by a large
thumbscrew. So I remvoed the head and measuerd said screw and then made a
bras rod wit h a suitable tapped hole on one end to fit onto the
carriage) and a male thread at the otehr (to go into a camera tripod
bus). Actually, I made 2,one with a 1/4" BSW thread for most cameras, the
other with 3/8" BSW for soem of my medium format stuff.
I also obtaiend a siet of copying lights (white reflector troughs iwth
photoflood-like bulbs in them). First thing I deed was re-wire then with
a series/paralell switch. I can start up wit hthe bulbs in seires which
gives enough light for settign up the subject, ofcussign a manual-focus
camera, etc nad then swithc to paralll (full brightness) for the
exposure. the bulbs last a lot longer that way!
