Given that most late-manufacture 5.25" drives are
pretty accurate
when it comes to motor speed, could one simply synthesize a SECTOR*
signal, triggered by the index to simulate a hard-sectored drive on a
1.2MB unit?
index off the spindle, instead of the photo-cell. But then you have to
line up the rotational position of the diskette every time you insert it.
