Well obviously :-) Dhrystones are related to Whetstones. The
Whetstone was a synthetic benchmark written originally in Algol-60
and the performance of this benchmark using the Whetstone Algol-60
compiler was used to compare Algol-60 compilers (in the days when
this had some major relevance).
More information can be found in "Algol 60 Compilation and
Assessment" by B. A. Wichmann. My copy is around somewhere but not
close enough to hand to quote from directly.
