Excel is easy to use and comes with all Windows based computers. Sadly I am
not old enough (or lucky enough) to have used any alternatives - though I
have heard of Lotus long before I joined this list.

If you want to try Lotus 123, get an HP LX 200 palmtop computer. It comes with Lotus built
into the ROM. In fact, the ability to run Lotus 123 was the genesis of the HP plamtops.
One of my gripes about Lotus 123 is that it excelled (pun intended) at losing your work,
as it did not ask you to save the file when you quit -- "/Q" would quit the
program whether or not you had unsaved work.
Bob??
PS. Re the "what calcularor to get" thread, you can get an HP LX200 and run any
of a number of MS-DOS HP calculator emulators on it.
