How many retired high-school band directors can
you name with perfect
hearing? They're also exposed intermittently, yet every one that I
know is somewhere between somewhat hearing-impaired to almost deaf as
a tree.
Although there is certainly a correlation between hearing
impairment and certain musically related occupations, we
must be careful to avoid assuming causation!
Perhaps hearing impairment causes certain people to go into those jobs!
(or play certain kinds of music)
