does permit unlicensed very low power transmission on
the radio broadcast bands. [...] I don't know if there's a similar
provision in UK law, but it might be worth investigating...
I'd think there
must be something similar, or there wouldn't be any
wireless networking and all sorts of other gizmos for sale there...
(a) there are doubtless bands you don't need a license for; (b) it's
possible that a license is necessary in the wireless networking bands
but a sufficiently approved device implies an automatic license for
tramissions using it, or some such.
