I recall reading about a turn-of-the-century pipe organ that used wet
Leclanch? cells to power the key action (before being boosted by
pneumatic means). The zinc anodes were attached to a board that was
operated by a bellows. The anodes were lowered into the cells only
when there was sufficiient air to operate the instrument.
