I have a feeling they came with a replacement IBM Diagnostics disk which had
an extra test on for the card. I can't really see many folks wanting one as
the real fun is in using a real 3270. If you just want to connect a PC to a
mainframe then TN3270 works just fine and is virtually indistinguishable from
the use experience side of things.
The hard part (at least from my standpoint) is getting your hands on the
IBM mainframe to begin with.
I recently saw pictures on the VCF of a 3270 keyboard a guy had (or was in
the process of) hacking to work on a PC.
