Ian just picked one of these up from me this week, for

Seattle. IIRC, it's a standard XT keyboard. However, it's been 20+ years
since my Mom last used the one I gave Ian, so I'm not entirely sure. It
should run plain DOS. It would have included WordStar and the other
programs that Kaypro shipped like MailMerge.
Having read some more about it, it seems to be about the most compatible
compatible that it was possible to get; Kaypro were happy to rewrite BIOS
portions to fix any incompatibilities (and my machine is one of the
slightly later ones, having a 'turbo' switch on the back of the CPU board).
As of right now, the PSU works, no smoke escapes with boards plugged in,
and I've confirmed (via serial number and the drive test printout found
inside the case) that the 'stray' ST225 belongs with the machine - and the
drive spins up OK and makes all the right noises. There's not a lot else
that I can do right now without a video card and keyboard.
It does have the owner's address on a sticker on the case, though, so I may
well stop by just on the offchance that the monitor and keyboard (or docs
etc.) remained with them. Highly unlikely, of course, but stranger things
have happened!
cheers
