I see them in tailights for buses and trucks also. They have a
somewhat different color (narrower spectral distribution) than
filtered incandescent lamps.
All the traffic lights here have been LEDs for several years. I also
see them in tail lights of cars and other vehicles. A few years ago,
the law for bicycle lights was changed to make LEDs legal (it used to
specify a certain wattage of 6V bulb, which now seems pretty silly given
the way intensity varies a lot with small voltage changes).
