ports together had have no problems. Even on the fitst time of connecting

That's what I was about to say. Sure, you have to set up a few
things...just like driving a car. You have to pull the lever, pull the
door, get in, close the door, insert the key, turn the key, release the
key at the same time, put it in gear, and drive. That's fewer steps
than I think I've ever taking getting something talking via RS232.
