possibly, but ISTR that when Prime tried to sell us some 750s their salesman said that
the OS was written in PL/1.
Prime was never able to completely shake FORTRAN. Indeed, you could
still find TWO versions of most system "insert" files--a FORTRAN one and
a PL/I one.
PL/I attempted to solve the language quarrel by including everything
from several languages, resulting in a language
that's despised by
everyone. A great opportunity for the corporate
"coding standards" types.
