Apparently the requirement for expansion of the omnibus via cable was a
rather late extra, well after the basic spec had been set and the design
done, it mainly involved a rework of the bus loads.

Apparently Omnibus systems with more than 2 boxes
were not
guaranteed to work. I'm not sure what lengths the BC80C cable
assembly came in.
Found it. A BC80C cable is apparently about 6 feet from edge
connector to edge connector, with about 4 feet of flexprint
between the paddle cards.

So the total length of an Omnibus wasn't supposed to be terribly
long.
