A bit off topic; a friend of mine has been offered a
9210 and asked
me if it was worth the effort of moving it. Without considering the
power and space requirements, I would prefer a 780 to a 9000.
If you were offered a 9000 would you take it or let it be scrapped? In
this case the biggest problem is the distance; the machine is located
about 1000Km from us.
I will not offer an opinion at this time regarding whether you should
rescue it. People who have been reading this list for at least a few
days will know how I fill about such things.
But one volume of VAX-9000 confidential internal documentation fell into
my lap recently (ouch!), so if anyone does have a 9000 or acquire one,
I'll make a copy available.
