I didn't have one in mind.
I'm not aware of anyone archiving software from a large collection of media
at the bit-level that has come up with a solution. John Bordyuik was working
with NASA on data cataloging a few years ago, but I don't know if anything was ever
published.
The main thing is to have enough embedded meta data to be able to figure out
what it came from later. It is VERY easy to loose track of things when they
are just a file full of bits.
