Hmm, is the firmware for this held in something that can be reprogrammed via
the serial port itself? That'd be pretty nifty if so, as people could
(theoretically) incorporate whatever software features they wanted into the unit.
But then, I find the little HP ePCs to come the
closest (e.g. they
take a keyboard and VGA display and are small) to what you're
proposing.
I think I said elsewhere that I've always just used an old laptop, which has
done the job well - but when I run out of RS232-equipped laptops I'd
definitely consider this gadget (I think all my Gateway laptops died, but I've
still got a working Thinkpad with Real Ports on it).
