When you're 16 and broke (I had to go to a
friend's house
to use a 1200 baud modem when his Dad was out of the house -- "5 miles,
uphill, both ways!"), you pirate.

When I was 16 & broke I went over to Rice University at 2 in the morning and
used the IBM 1620. At the time it was the closest thing to a "Personal
Computer", but you had to sign up for 15 minute blocks of time.
