Some other (less common) electromechanical terminals need 1.5 stop bits.
IIRC that was common with five-level comms. It's generally safe to
configure a UART for two stop bits even if the device you're communicating
with only needs 1 or 1.5, because transmitting longer/more stop bits is OK,
and on the receive side, almost all UARTs will accept a single stop bit
even when they're configured to transmit 1.5 or 2.
