I don't see too much value on these all-plastic-printers. I have a 4Plus
(now 4MPlus, added postscript and tens of megabytes of ram, and also a
jetdirect) for YEARS and it is still going strong. I do love my printer :)

Perhaps you missed the bit where I said my 4ML was bought new in 1993
and is still going strong? I use it for business and personal
printing. The only difference between the 4L and the 4ML is the card
with the Postscript engine on it (and the Mac 8-pin-minidin). The
case and the engine is the same.
I call 15+ years of use durable, but I don't dance on it at office parties.
