Rumor has it that Tony Duell may have mentioned these words:

I am, of course, rather more excited by the ability to
display an
arbitrary pattern on a row of LEDs connected to a (static) output port
than being able to display text on a CRT screen. Because even in the
worst case I can replace said LEDs with the LED side of some
opto-isolators. And use those to control triacs or relays. And the
'Control the World' :-)
As am I -- In fact, I've started "hoarding" CoCo's (as yes, the 6809 is
also *my* favourite 8-bitter) to use them in "real life control"
applications, like turning on/off lights, reading thermoresistors, etc.
3 questions:
Does anyone have some good schematics or facts/figures (no matter how
basic) as to a good way to interface triacs to a classic computer? (I'm
mainly worried about 2 things: circuit isolation & heat dissipation of the
triac) ...
Does anyone have some good schematics / advice on how to interface a 12 or
16-bit A/D chip to an 8-bit system?
And lastly: Does anyone have any references to where I could purchase
40-pin board edge connectors (instead of the usual 44-pin) other than
hacking said connectors with a dremel tool?
Web references, book references, personal experience, *any* info is welcome!
Thanks loads (and trying to keep the S/N ratio higher...)
