Try swapping
this chip between the two units and see if it changes things,
assuming the power supply is known to be good.
Not necessarily a good assumption, and I'd check the PS _first_ as that's
often the cause of a lot of problems, particularly RAM failure.
Yes. In my original message I suggested that was first in things to check,
above the section you quoted.
