Dig into your toolbox and grab the sheet-metal nibbler. Makes great square
notches. Everybody's got one of these, right? If not, you should--it's
indispensible for making connector holes, etc. in metal, plastic, or PCB.
Makes neat little chips instead of powder or shavings.
