That's nearly completely opposite to my experience among the Apple II crowd
in the midwest of the United States. Many of the Apple II enthusiasts
wanted the Lisa, but it was too expensive for them. When the Mac was
introduced, they were quick to adopt it.
I stand corrected. I actually didn't know any Apple II people so I
shouldn't have said they didn't become Mac loyalists.
However, I stand by the first part: the Mac was marketed to capture a
whole new user base - including those who'd never used a computer, and
SME's.
