"Nixie" refers to a Burroughs-trademarked product. I believe that a
7441 can also drive Numicators. Also VFDs, so my term of "gas tube"
isn't even accurate. How's that for pedantic? ;)
The 74L86 quad XOR pinout differs from that of 7486,
also 'L85/'85, 'L93/'93, 'L95/'95.
It was the L86 that I was thinking of. Gate pinout oriented as face-
to-face instead of head-to-tail. "L" gates could be wire-ORed also;
something I recall that you can find in the MITS 8800 front panel
(along with bare mains AC traces). (The two ARE related in my
computer, one accidental probe leading to the demise of an L00 in the
Altair).
