Will that pass inspection? The typical concrete slab is what, 3"-4" thick,
tops? You may want to cut through the slab, dig a hole and pour a real
footing for the beam.

That's what I was thinking. Saw it on some tv show once, a 2 foot square
hole about 2 feet deep should do the trick...
