Using this to do hot air reflow is much, much easier than trying to
hand-hold even the finest of soldering irons if you don't have
professional equipment at home...it provides just enough heat to melt
low mp solder and applies it to a very small (2-3 mm) spot.
I'll have to make one of those. I happen to have one of those desoldering
irons.
On what kind of board are the broken traces? Can it be
removed and
shipped?
It's the mainboard of a Macintosh G5 dual. Appearance really isn't an
issue as the board will be concealed anyhow. Since I now know that he's
watching, let's see if he'll chime in on what needs to be done.
