At least up through the 70's, Williams-tube type
storage was still
undergoing development in the form of EBAM (electron beam addressed
memory).
Was EBAM ever commercially deployed? ?I remember seeing a rack of
them sitting in the hallway at ADL at CDC Arden Hills in the mid-70s
and being told that the project was no longer a hot item.
In the mid-1980s, I remember seeing something of the sort in an
industry rag - electron beam semiconductor devices, I think. I have
never seen one, and I am doubting they ever left the lab.
