to be honest, these days, I think using an outside
service for a 2 layer
board is *much* easier and no more expensive (when you add up
everything).
It's also a lot slower (you can etch and drill a PCB in an afternoon --
I've done it, whereas it'll take about a week for the PCB to be sent back
to you by post (at least if your snail-mail is anything like ours).
When you're prototyping, modifying, trying things as you go, it rapidly
becomes impossible if you have to wait a week for every new version of
the PCB!
