I must have missed what you were getting at there. In what way
specifically are USB keyboards and mice "special"? For the purposes
here just that they are typically implemented as Low-Speed devices
instead of Full-Speed devices?
Well, they're low-speed devices, but they're unique among HID devices
in that they also implement a "boot protocol". The HID spec devotes
quite a few pages to this.
