If you're going to use fuzzy metrics like "public awareness" you can prove anything you want. What's your threshold? 1% of the public? 0.001% of the public? Whose survey are you using? When did Mosaic come out? If you want to pick a point in time when the Internet changed from a specialist tool to a worldwide utility, that would be the one. I forgot the year, but I'm sure it's well before 1994. And I remember looking into an "Information Superhighway Onramp" as a product or service at that time, so clearly it was emerging as a consumer utility then. paul
