It typically wasn't done with GCR on 5.25 inch
floppies because the schemes
in use (e.g., by Apple and Commodore) weren' t using flux density as high
as the standard MFM format. (I'm not sure about the GCR on rt he Victor
9000.)
I'm not absolutely certain (I don't have the schematic in front of me)
but I am pretty sure there is no write precompensation in the
Sirius/Victor 9000 floppy controller .The data handling circuitry is, not
suprisingly, very similar to that used by Commodore, and I think I would
ahve noticed an added precompensation circuit.
