Sometimes even an asset. I recall a DIY project in Practical Television
in the UK, for a Band III (about 190-200MHz) VHF TV preamp, built in the
proverbial tobacco tin with a VHF pentode (IIRC), and using a length of
coax for its tuned circuit.
