No offense, but, bleaaargh!
Using a web browser vs any halfway decent text interface e-mail client
(or a newsreader) is extremely inefficient in terms of the time it takes
to read/followup to anything. There's no way I'd have the time to wade
through hundreds of messages each week using a graphical or a text web
browser like lynx.
Really, I don't mind the notion of there being web based forums with
relevant news items or events, but don't get rid of the mailing list.
I think the ideas of the registry and some sort of trade-zone are both
very good and would be better areas of focus for web-efforts.
