The console, when I pick up an idle loop.

No, it's POTS Centrex. When I say 4-line phones, I mean a phone in
which the connector has 2 pairs, and it has 2 such connectors.
But not all 4 pairs are always live...
[Do I understand loop/ground/e&m start?]
Nope, but I've heard them before.
This is the first time I've really played with phone stuff besides
T-1 and ISDN stuff. I have a very basic idea of how the network works,
but nothing past that.
