I think there are only one or two socketed ICs.
I've got a capacitor on order for the PSU to try and resolve the video
issue. Apparently in one mode of operation it is normal to get that field
of endless question marks.
The builder of this machine did a fairly clean job, unfortunately they
didn't label any of the buttons and toggle switches, so I am flying blind.
I have found one that appears to do a reset, and another that turns that
field of ????s on and off. I'm thinking that's the toggle for the serial
board. I just wanted to see if I could get it to a point where I could type
in a line or two, but so far no dice. Maybe the cap fix will help.

Wow,,, what a blast from the past. my first terminal,,, with a little sony
bw tv I hacked to get better video quality. 32x16 ?
If it has sockets on the IC's it may be time for the Deox and a reseating
session.
Somewhere, I think I still have a Merlin board set. Mancave and book cases
getting finished up now,,, perhaps by next fall I'll have this sort of thing
where I can actually touch it.

Hey everyone,
I'm a fairly middle-weight collector based in Squamish, BC. I have
about 70 machines total, a few of which are projects that I'm seeking
advice/help on.
One of them is an SWTPC TVT-II CT-1024 terminal. I bought it a couple
of months ago, complete on ebay. I've tried to read as much
documentation on these as I can find, but there are a few things I can't
figure
out.
I've posted a few videos of it -- including this one:
