IIRC, the original 400K SS drive had a cable with all pins wired. The
800K drive had at least one fake wire, and the 1.44M dirve had more than
that.

I beelive there are at least 2 versions of the
calbe (for double sided
and high density drives>?, with different coloured pin 1 tracers. A Mac
enthusiast may know more.
I found this out the hard way 'Why is that pin at totally differnet
voltages at the 2 ends of the cable???'
So the cable matches the drive or the cable matches the motherboard?
